From October 2013, the HSE will be amending the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 in an effort to make it easier for businesses and other users to understand how to comply with Health and Safety law, while still maintaining standards. These changes will apply to businesses and organisation of all sizes from all sectors.

So what do these mean to you? These changes have been designed to make it easier, not to complicate things. Moving forward you will have the freedom to select training for first aiders that is appropriate to the needs of your company/organisation.

It's also an excellent opportunity to review what you're doing at the moment and make sure it's up to standard. Are your first aid kits appropriately stocked, if you have a first aid room, is it properly equipped for the situations that could affect your business, and are your first aid personnel properly trained
